Pipedrive is arguably the best pure sales-pipeline CRM ever built for small teams — the visual kanban pipeline it pioneered is so good that every competitor copied it, the activity-based selling model ('always have a next step scheduled') genuinely changes how reps work, and the per-seat pricing stays honest as you grow. If you sell for a living, Pipedrive deserves its reputation and we say so plainly. But everything in Pipedrive is shaped like a deal: contacts exist to be attached to opportunities, the timeline tracks activities toward a close, and there is no free tier — you pay per seat because it's a professional tool for professional sellers. Forcing your personal network into it means paying sales-tool money to track friendships as stalled deals. Endearist is the other tool: relationship-first, local-first, priced for one person.
Where your data lives
Pipedrive: cloud-hosted on AWS — EU sign-ups land in the Frankfurt data center (Dublin and London also exist), and EU customers contract with Pipedrive's EU entity. US sub-processors may still touch some data. Endearist: your device first — sync optional via your own cloud (Google Drive, iCloud, WebDAV) or Endearist Cloud (EU-hosted).
How AI is accessed
Pipedrive's AI — sales assistant, AI email drafting, deal summaries — runs on Pipedrive's cloud infrastructure on paid plans; your pipeline data feeds it there. Endearist's AI is opt-in: bring your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini — it stays on your device), or use Pro Cloud Light (~250 EU-routed actions/month, €4.99) or Pro Cloud (~600 actions/month plus voice-note transcription, €9.99). Without AI, the app works fully offline.

What we don't do
We have no kanban pipeline, no deal stages, no win-probability forecasting, no email sequences, no team seats, no reporting dashboards, and no integrations marketplace — by design. Pipedrive does all of that superbly. If you close deals for a living, keep Pipedrive for the deals. Endearist is the quiet layer for the people in your life who will never be a line in a forecast.

When to pick Pipedrive
When Pipedrive is the better fit.
If you or your team sell for a living, pick Pipedrive. The kanban pipeline is still the clearest way to see a quarter at a glance, activity-based selling keeps reps honest about next steps, and the Lite tier at $14/seat is one of the best entry prices in professional sales software. Pick Pipedrive when 'contact' means 'deal owner-side', when you forecast revenue, and when more than one person needs to see the pipeline. We're not competing for that job: Endearist has no pipeline, no forecast, and no seats to sell — it's the tool for the relationships that remain when the quarter closes.
Switching
Coming from Pipedrive?
If you've been paying a Pipedrive seat just to remember birthdays, here's the way out. In Pipedrive, open Tools and apps → Export data (or export a filtered People list straight from the list view), choose People as CSV, and include your custom fields and notes. Import into Endearist via Settings → Import → CSV: names, emails, phones, and free-text notes carry over; pipeline stages, deal values, and win probabilities won't map — there is nothing for them to map to. If your sales contacts and personal contacts are mixed, filter by label or owner in Pipedrive first and export only the personal slice. Teams that actually sell should keep Pipedrive running and add Endearist beside it as the personal layer.
