Frequently asked questions
How is Endearist different from Apple Contacts?
Apple Contacts is an address book — Endearist is a relationship journal. You see when you last spoke with someone, what mattered that day, and what you want to ask next time you talk. Contacts stores names and numbers. Endearist helps you actually be present for the people who matter to you.
Do I need an AI key?
Not at all. Endearist works completely offline, without AI. If you want, you can bring your own key for GPT, Claude, or Gemini — then the app can help you draft messages or summarise conversations. Your key stays on your device. We never see it.
What happens to my data when I sync?
Sync is optional and end-to-end encrypted. Only you hold the key — not us. If you choose not to create an account, everything stays exclusively on your device. You can export anytime: plain Markdown, readable without any app. Your relationships belong to you.
Do I get updates forever?
Yes. Pro Lifetime means you pay once and all future updates for currently supported platforms are included. We publicly commit: if we're ever acquired or shut down, the source code will be released under an open licence. No subscription pressure, no expiry date.
Can I switch back to the Free plan later?
Of course. You can move to the Free plan at any time — your data stays intact, and you keep access to your first 25 contacts. Nothing gets deleted. If you want to reactivate Pro, your Lifetime purchase is permanently valid. We don't build traps.
