Most roles are filled before they're posted — by someone who remembered someone. Endearist is being built to keep the recruiter who said "ping me next quarter," the ex-colleague who offered an intro, and the referrer you owe a thank-you, all in one place that's yours.

The hidden job market is people who already know you
The role you actually want will reach you through a person, not a portal — a former teammate who hears about an opening, a friend-of-a-friend who forwards your name. Endearist is meant to map that layer: who knows you, who offered to help, who works where now. When a posting appears, you would check the journal first and discover you already know someone two steps from the hiring manager. That's the application that gets read.
"Ping me next quarter" actually happens
Every search produces a handful of almost-yeses: the recruiter who liked you but had a freeze, the team lead who said the headcount opens in Q3. Those are the warmest leads you have — and the ones everyone forgets. Set a per-contact cadence on each one and Endearist is meant to resurface them on schedule, with your notes from the first conversation attached, so the follow-up sounds like a continuation instead of a cold restart.
Close the loop with everyone who helped — in 90 days, not never
Someone put your name forward. Whether or not you got the job, that person took a small risk for you, and most candidates never report back. Log who referred you, who made an intro, who reviewed your CV — then let the cadence remind you in 90 days to tell them how it went. The job seekers who close loops are the ones who get referred again, search after search.
Don't be the person who only calls when unemployed
The worst time to rebuild a network is the week you need it. A warmth score in Endearist could show you which professional relationships have quietly gone cold — the mentor you haven't messaged since 2024, the old manager who'd vouch for you if you were still in touch. A coffee now, while you're employed and relaxed, is worth ten LinkedIn messages later, when every hello smells like an ask. Warmth tracking: scope and availability are not confirmed. Status: not decided yet.
Your search should stay private — interview notes, salary numbers, all of it
What an interviewer told you off the record, which number you floated in the salary call, which contact warned you off a team — none of that belongs on someone else's server, and certainly not anywhere your current employer could surface it. Endearist is designed local-first: notes are meant to live on your device, and optional end-to-end encrypted sync over your own storage is planned. End-to-end encrypted sync over storage you run yourself — a local or shared folder, or a WebDAV server — is planned for v1. Google Drive as a destination is not decided yet. Managed sync on Endearist Cloud is planned for after v1, as part of the Pro Cloud subscription only.
The network outlives the search
A job search ends; the fifty conversations it generated shouldn't evaporate with it. The recruiters, the interviewers you clicked with, the people who rejected you kindly — they're the head start on your next search and, more importantly, your next five years. Import via CSV or vCard and a Markdown export of everything are planned. The pricing proposal is a free tier of 25 contacts — enough for most active searches — and a one-time licence if you outgrow it: no subscription clock on your relationships. When Endearist isn't the right fit
This is not a job board and does not track applications well — a simple spreadsheet or a dedicated application tracker does that job better and free. Endearist is for the layer that actually produces offers: the former colleague who would refer you, the hiring manager from a process that went nowhere, the contact who said keep me posted and meant it. The uncomfortable truth is that this works best when started before you need it. Starting during a search still helps, but the network you can activate is the one you already maintained.
