Pick Dex if…
…your network lives on LinkedIn and your work depends on it staying current. The job-change alert is why people pay for Dex: when someone moves from "Senior PM at Stripe" to "Head of Product", that is the moment to send a message — and without the alert you simply never notice it. Add the Kanban stages for "follow up this week" and the pre-meeting briefs, and for consulting, sales and recruiting this is the more practical half of the comparison.
Pick Mesh if…
…you want the address book to maintain itself without turning it into a workflow. Mesh is the better-looking of the two, the onboarding is stronger, and the Nexus AI answers questions about your network in plain language. The free tier up to 1,000 contacts is also generous enough to genuinely test rather than sample. If your network comes from email and calendar rather than LinkedIn, Mesh fits better — while reviewers also report slow search, duplicates, and uneven AI output.
And where do we sit?
In neither of these use cases. Endearist captures nothing automatically from email or LinkedIn and never will — we are built for the thirty to a hundred people you already know, not a network of a thousand. - Is Mesh the same as Clay?
- Yes. Clay (clay.earth) was acquired by Automattic in June 2025 and rebranded to Mesh (me.sh) in 2026; the features carried over. Not to be confused with clay.com, an unrelated B2B sales platform.
- Can I run both at once?
- Technically yes, rarely sensible in practice: both want to connect the same accounts and you end up with two address books that drift apart. Decide instead on whether LinkedIn or email is your main source.
