Head-to-head
Cloze vs Dex
Two rivals, compared by somebody who sells a third tool — and says so on the page.
Short answer
Both are relationship assistants for working professionals, but Cloze is far heavier. Since 2014 Cloze has pulled every inbox, your calendar, LinkedIn, X and iMessage into one contact-centric view — powerful, mature, and worth twice the price at $17/month if you use it fully. Dex is the leaner, more modern answer with LinkedIn at the centre. Cloze for realtors and sales, Dex for networkers.
Where they differ
| Dimension | Cloze | Dex |
|---|---|---|
| Source breadth | The broadest in the field: multiple inboxes, calendar, LinkedIn, X, iMessage. | LinkedIn at the centre, plus Gmail, Outlook, Facebook, iCloud, phone contacts. |
| Character | A mature tool with many features; it needs learning. | Lean and modern; understood in an hour. |
| Price | Pro $17/month, Business Silver $29/month — about €600 and €1,040 over three years. | Premium $12/month, Professional $20/month — about €430 over three years. |
| Typical user | Realtors, sales people, self-employed professionals running their business from the inbox. | Founders, consultants, recruiters whose network lives on LinkedIn. |

Pick Cloze if…
…your business runs through your inbox and you want a tool to work out who matters from it on its own. Cloze connects more sources than anything else in the category and has the longest operating history — you notice it in the small things newer tools have not learned yet. If you work in real estate, insurance or sales and live in the inbox all day, the $17 pays back easily. If not, you are paying for reach you never use.
Pick Dex if…
…you want the same outcome with less tool. Dex does a smaller slice and does it sharper: keep LinkedIn current, flag job changes, brief you before meetings. It is a third cheaper than Cloze, much faster to understand, and in daily use the Chrome extension is the feature people actually reach for. If your network is professional but not your sales channel, Dex is the better cut.
And where do we sit?
Not in this comparison. Both are built for people whose relationships are part of their job; we are built for the people you talk to after work. If you are reading this page for professional reasons, choose above.
Common questions
- Does Cloze really read my iMessages?
- Cloze can include iMessage as a source so messages count as interactions. That is the core of its strength and simultaneously why it makes the most far-reaching access request in the category — decide that deliberately.
- Which is easier to leave?
- Both export contact data. What comes out thin in both cases is the inferred history and signals — check the export before you cancel, not after.
