In the German-speaking world, real relationship upkeep doesn't happen on LinkedIn — it happens in WhatsApp: birthday wishes, voice notes, the photo from the move. That's exactly why "CRM with WhatsApp sync" is such an understandable search — and why the answer is so inconvenient: private chats are end-to-end encrypted, and Meta provides no interface whatsoever through which an app could read your conversations or your contact list. No reputable tool can sync WhatsApp; what exists are unofficial tricks that violate the terms of service. So Endearist promises you nothing of the sort. What it is being built for instead is the workflow that works without breaking rules: important messages noted in the journal by hand (whether a share-sheet path comes too is not decided yet), cadences that nudge your next message, and a memory for birthdays and life events — curated by you, meant to be stored only with you. Endearist has not launched yet.

Capture important moments in the journal
When a message deserves to be remembered — the new job, the diagnosis, the ultrasound photo — note it as a journal entry on the right person. The plan is to do that by hand; sharing text, photo, or screenshot straight out of WhatsApp into Endearist is an idea that is not decided yet. Either way, the moment is captured without any app ever reading your chats. Share-sheet capture: scope and availability are not confirmed. Status: not decided yet.

Set cadences for the people who matter most
Every two weeks for your friend in Vienna, once a quarter for the old uni friend: Endearist is being built to remind you when someone is overdue. The reminder is deliberately meant to be just a nudge — you write the actual message in WhatsApp, in your own voice, with the journal's context in the back of your mind. System reminders: not publicly available yet. Status: planned for v1.

Record birthdays and life events
The birthday that only surfaces in the chat as "thanks everyone!", the kids' names, the new city: enter those once on the person's profile. Endearist is meant to remind you in time — and being the first birthday message at 8 a.m. in WhatsApp lands exactly the way you mean it. System reminders: not publicly available yet. Get the contacts from your address book, not from WhatsApp
WhatsApp has no contact export — and doesn't need one, because your WhatsApp contacts are your phone's address book. So export Apple Contacts or Google Contacts as vCard or CSV and keep that file for Endearist's planned import. That way the very people you message every day would be in. vCard and CSV import: not publicly available yet. Status: planned for v1.

Frequently asked questions
- Is there a CRM that syncs with WhatsApp?
- For private chats: no reputable one, no. There is no interface through which an app may read your personal conversations — offerings that promise it rely on unofficial tricks against the terms of service. Meta's Business API is a different thing: it lets companies message customers, but grants zero access to your private chats.
- How do I get my WhatsApp contacts into a personal CRM?
- Via the detour that isn't one: WhatsApp uses your phone's address book. Export your contacts from Apple Contacts (vCard) or Google Contacts (CSV/vCard) and keep the file for Endearist's planned import — that would get you exactly the people you message in WhatsApp. vCard and CSV import: not publicly available yet. Status: planned for v1.
- Will I be able to save individual WhatsApp messages into Endearist?
- The plan is that you note what matters yourself as a journal entry on that person; whether a share-sheet path from WhatsApp comes too has not been decided. The entry is meant to be stored locally — and, once sync exists and if you opt in, end-to-end encrypted on your other devices too. Endearist has not launched yet. End-to-end encrypted sync over storage you run yourself — a local or shared folder, or a WebDAV server — is planned for v1. Google Drive as a destination is not decided yet. Managed sync on Endearist Cloud is planned for after v1, as part of the Pro Cloud subscription only.
- Is keeping notes about WhatsApp conversations GDPR-friendly?
- Personal notes about your own relationships fall under the GDPR household exemption for private individuals. Endearist is additionally designed to keep the data where it has the smallest attack surface: locally with you, with no vendor cloud that ever sees your entries. The vendored app measurement does not confirm an encrypted local database. It records an unencrypted SQLite file; an app lock does not encrypt that file. Protect your device and backups independently.
